Mobile working – the very real challenges of virtualisation security
Mobile working is on the increase, with more companies allowing their employees to use smartphones and tablets. Our recent Information Security survey showed that 53% of organisations are working on Data Loss Prevention policies to allow the use of tablets and 13.7% already have a policy in place that addresses all devices.
Having an agile, mobile workforce is becoming commonplace for a lot of small and medium-sized enterprises and remote working in the corporate environment has been happening for decades.
With a more mobile and flexible workforce, there are increasing pressures on IT to provide fast, reliable, secure and easy-to-use remote access for the business. It’s no surprise that more businesses have taken the plunge and moved to a Cloud based infrastructure, we found that 28% of enterprise organisations surveyed in our Information Security survey have already embraced the Cloud. In our Cloud report from November last year 69% of respondents reported that they had a specific interest in cloud security products and services.
So what challenges does the cloud provide for information security, particularly the challenges for in-house and the problems with overseas data centres?
What about the increase in workforce mobility and greater decentralisation of IT processes and the growing use of social media? Is there a very real threat that there could be a loss in direct control over data and applications?
At the TechTouchstone Information Security Summit in February (28th and 29th) Andy Lee and John Ross from the BIG Lottery fund will be discussing these questions and taking delegates through a best practice case study on how they have tackled these issues.
Have a look at the delegate programme if you think you could benefit from a VIP invitation to attend.
